Show Us Where You Live Friday - Kid's Rooms

Kelly over at Kelly's Korner is hosting a Show Us Where You Live Friday. This week is nurseries and children's rooms. I'm excited about this one because these are the rooms that are actually always clean and pretty much completely decorated. I can't wait to see all the other rooms. This is Sweetness's room. Her name, Amelia, was actually my husband's idea (after Amelia Earhart). Being a pilot, he would have named all our children after famous pilots if he had been allowed too. The large plane silhouette is the plane Amelia Earhart flew across the Atlantic. The three pictures of planes were drawing that my husband has had since high school. I rematted them with hot pink mats. This wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I even broke one piece of glass, so I would recommend letting the pros do that. Ha!

I'm so thankful that my neighbor convinced to leave the wall color tan (like the rest of the house). I was going to paint it white and then paint the pink plane and dots on it, but I like that the pink and tan is a little more subdued - better for a bedroom.
This is Crazy #1's bedroom. He loves YELLOW. Only yellow would do for his room. At first he was even upset about the red portion of the wall. He got over it though. We added the chair rail, and we are really happy with how it turned out.

I couldn't figure out what theme I was going to use with yellow walls in a boys room, but one trip to Hobby Lobby solved that. They had a ton of firetruck stuff that was perfect for the yellow/red room. It really turned out cute. I think there is even a Weeble wagon in this picture - how appropriate.
I love these tin pictures that were my grandmother's. They even came framed like that. They have a stagecoach, train, and steamboat.

This is Crazy #2's room. I think it is my favorite. I love the colors. We added chair rail in this room too. I painted all the furniture black to match one another. I saw something similar to these pictures at Pottery Barn for girls with hot pink flowers. I liked the idea so much that I made these with clip art, a pack of canvases from Hobby Lobby, and leftover wall paint. Crazy #2 loves them.

The map of this side is an old navigation map from when my husband was in OCS. My husband brought home the frame from the dumpster at one of the apartments that we lived in early.

I love using toys as decoration. It just seems practical. Everything has a place that way. The kids bedrooms are the only rooms in the house that always stay clean. We always clean them up before bedtime. My oldest could never sleep well with distractions in his room.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm really enjoying seeing everyone's homes, and I hope you are too.
