Later I went to Target for a quick trip. I spent $4.20 for all of these items. The strawberries are on sale for $1.99 and there are several $1 off coupons out there. I used ones from 2 mailers that I received. I got the hot dogs for 49c by stacking 2 - $1/1 coupons. I am saving these for the boys birthday parties. I have a freezer full now.

Later I ran by Target and picked up a few Kashi products. This are always priced so much better there than at other stores. The same waffles are $4.19 at HEB instead of $1.99 at Target. They are even more expensive at Kroger. I had $1.50/1 coupons for the waffles making them 49c ea. I had a $1.50/1 coupon for the cereal bars which made them $1.04. I had nothing out of pocket because I had a $5 giftcard from a previous weeks deals.
All in all I'm pretty happy with this weeks total. Hopefully, I can stay down around that level next week too. I am already planning my menu based on what I have in the pantry, so I think I will be able to stay pretty close. We will see what kind of deals show up next week. :)

Bountiful Harvest
Plus the thing I'm probably most excited about is the rotting mass out my back door. That's right we are composting in a trash can made composter. I didn't think it was really working, but then I went to turn it with a shovel, and low and behold - there is black gold in that stuff. I can't believe it actually worked and so quickly. I can't wait to see if I really does improve our garden production. Of course, first I have to figure out how to sift out the compost from the rotting kitchen waste. Ooh gross!
Here is our composter. We just roll it every once in a while.
The new thing for the kids is to find stink bugs and tell Mommy and Daddy to squish them. They are all over our garden. I haven't seen much damage yet, but we are trying to kill as many as we see. Who knew gardening was so gross.
We are so excited about our garden this year. It has really done well. We love checking over it each day. Those folks over at the Galveston County Ag Extension really know what they are doing. Our gardening experience has been so improved this year from last year by following their advice. I can't wait to see what the fall will be like. We get to try out a whole new set of veggies. Lots of fun when it actually works. Ha!

Grocery Deals 6/10 - 6/16

I'll be hitting Kroger this week. I love summer. It equals good deals on produce. I see pineapple, carrots, watermelon, and peaches in our future. Plus Kraft cheese is on sale again, and pairs up with internet coupons that have been on the Kraft site. We go through so much cheese in this house; it's almost comical. That pizza deal might be a good deal depending how much the pizza is. I'll check it out.
I was hoping to see some better deals at HEB this week. I am loving getting those HEB coupons in the mail for free stuff. I don't know if everyone is getting these, or why I am, but I'm lovin' it.

Psst... I Have a Secret...
Obviously, it is in the genes. That's me in the Wonder Woman get-up and Pretty Boy in the Superman shirt. Crazy #1 is superhero crazy. His super powers include, but are not limited too being superfast and flying. (I'm a little scared of the second one. He asked if he could use our car window shade as a parachute yesterday.)
I don't think we have nailed down Crazy #2's super power yet, but Sweetness's power is to "fight the bad guys no matter what." Pretty impressive for a baby of only 7 months. Crazy #1 was quite offended when Papaw called her a "Princess". He informed Papaw that she was a superhero baby. We finally reconciled things by saying she could be both just like her mama, Wonder Woman. :) Daddy's power is to be "super strong" of course.
So here is the story of how you became a superhero. One day while Daddy was in Bahrain (a little embellishing there), we were in the mini-van. As we pulled out, there was a bunny in the neighbor's yard eating thier plants. You told me to roll down the window, and I did. You yelled "Fire!" at the bunny and scared him away. And that is how you became a superhero - or so you say. :)
Just remember my little superhero, that Mommy's super powers include Super Kisses that heal boo-boos and Super Love for all my superheros (and eyes-in-the-back-of-my-head). I love that you have included the whole family in your superhero fantasies. You are such a sweet, creative little boy. Now let's go fight some bad guys. Cha-Cha! Ka-Pow!
